Competitive Swimming

2018-2019 Program Levels

Thank you for considering Occoquan Swimming for your child’s swimming career.  We are pleased to offer a variety of options for competitive swimmers of all ages and commitment levels.  Each group is formulated to provide as specific of training as possible for each swimmer’s needs.  Before deciding to join a specific group, please be sure you are clear which level is best for your swimmer based on a coach’s feedback.  If you sign up for the incorrect program your swimmer will be moved to the proper level for their age and background during the first few weeks of the season.

Medley Program

The Medley Swimming Programs of OCCS are based on a proven systematic approach to building the foundational skills and fitness for swimmers to grow from.  Swimmers in the Medley Groups will be taught the advanced swimming skills and progress through the season with additional reinforcement of skills through drills, training and other instruction.

Pre-Senior

Some swimmers 12-14 that are ready for the additional training will be invited to this bridge program that prepares the swimmers for the senior programs through extensive training, additional practice expectations and commitment to swimming.

Senior Program

The Senior Swimming Programs of OCCS provide the mature swimmer with a full training program to build fitness and skills for success at various meets throughout the season.  The foundations program offers a lighter version of the senior level for swimmers that have not swum as much in their past or just want more of a focus on preparing for a later career in the Senior Program.

OCCS operates in six facilities among three general areas.  Each area has programs that overlap and coordinate with each other to provide a full program of entry level programing through high performance groups.

Prince William East (PWE) (Lakeridge/ Woodbridge area)

Chinn Recreation Center

Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center (AKA Dale City)

Colgan High School (AKA Prince William County Schools Aquatic Center)

Manassas Central (MC) (Manassas area close to downtown)

Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center

Central Park Aquatic Center (AKA Occoquan Swim Academy)

Warrenton (WARF)

Warrenton Aquatic & Recreation Center (WARF)

Note the age criteria is based on your swimmer’s age on January 1, 2019

Advancing children before they are ready for a certain level is not healthy for their long-term development.  Coaches will provide a logical progression for the swimmers at whatever level they are at for season success while maintaining a long-term approach to creating a full swimming career.
